1 Son you best not go signing your name for that boy down the road or put your name out there for someone ya don’t know.,
2 Yer own words will trap ya tighter than a bear trap ,
yep you’ll get caught by what ya tell folks.
3 Right here’s some good advise, so ya don’t get yerself in a real bad jam ,
when ya find yourself at the mercy of your neighbor
get up and go talk to em do what ya can to get yourself out of that there trap .
4 Don’t sleep or even doze off;
5 act like a deer that was just shot at and missed, or like a bird let out of a cage
6 Now you lazy folks listen to me go look at an ant; watch how she works and get smarts about you!
7 heck she don’t have a leader, or a preacher, or even a boss ,
8 Still she can provide her own food in the plantin season, and gets up ready for harvest .
9 How long you gonna sleep you ole lazy fool ? When ya gonna get up and do something?
10 yep get a little sleep, a little shut eye, be done for the day so you can crawl into bed and sleep some more—
11 So poverty is gonna come on you like a thief on the run, and like somebody with a gun telling ya gimme what ya got make ya feel down right helpless.
12 Them no good folks, you know a crook, lives tangled up and talks all tangled up.
13 Just watch his eyes son he’ll wink, cross his fingers, and watch what he does where he goes, now thats the kinda things ya look for.
14 He’s got an old stubborn heart, finds ways to get into trouble, or torment folks, and always trying to hurt someone; always stirring up trouble to keep folks fightin.
15 You know payday comes to folks like that and it’ll come right fast when it does; then their all crying and such, and ain’t nobody around that can help em no ain’t no medicine can take care of that kinda pain.
16 I know 6 things the good Lord hates well really 7 are just down right bitter taste to him
17 A look that says I’m better than you are, a lying tongue, and hands with innocent blood on em,
18 A heart that figures out how to be cruel, feet that are always running to do something bad and mean,
19 A Folks who go lying and swearing on others, and he who is a trouble maker dividing folks against each other.
20 My son,remember what your pa has taught ya and don’t forget what yer ma says either.
21 keep them always on yer heart and tie them around yer neck.
22 On this here journey in life they gonna take you down the right trail; when you sleep, they’ll protect ya; and when ya wake up, they’ll talk with ya.
23 For this here is all a good light for ya son, and about not gettin yer way or having to say your sorry are just a way of life,
24 they will keep you from the loose woman, from her telling ya what she thinks ya wanna hear remember she don’t have any self respect.
25 Don’t go running after her just because shes pretty, and don’t let her trap ya with her sexy eyes either.
26 For on account of a whorish woman a man will lose everything, and she will go to stalking him and set a trap for his precious life.
27 Question for ya can a man take fire in his arms and his clothes not be burned?
28 Can one walk on them hot coals from the grill and not burn his feet?
29 So he who shacks up with another mans wife ain’t a bit innocent when he touches her he’ll have some kinda consequences for it I gua-ran-tee it.
30 Most people ain’t too upset with folks who steal if they do it because their starving to death;
31 But still if their caught, they must give back what they stole seven times; maybe everything they own if its not much.
32 But whoever cheats with a woman lacks good sense upstairs; he’s just destroying his own life.
33 He’s gonna get hurt really bad, and folks won’t forget it either or take to kindly to it.
34 Her ole man that’s been done wrong may get down right jealous, and then he is dangerous like a bear; not likely to just let it go either.
35 He ain’t gonna take no money neither he ain’t gonna be happy don’t matter what ya try to give him.
