Ephesians 4:24 “Putting on the new man which is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
Holiness has been defined in many different ways often by our own likes or dis-likes which is shaped by our culture, religious up-bringing or just trying to please God in the flesh.
However most of the time our belief about holiness is born out of a sin consciousness and has nothing at all to do with the true holiness of God sin consciousness is when we are more aware of what is wrong with us than what is right with us because of Christ
True holiness does not come through outward appearance, but from the hidden man of the heart.
For example, many will say I live a clean life I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t cuss or watch bad movies etc. but this is not true holiness we may not get drunk with alcohol, but may be drunk on the cares of this life or even with religion we may not smoke, but we may abuse our body and other people through different means.
We may not curse according to southern standards, but we may still fill our mouth with negativity, doubt, fear, evil and critical speaking all the time thinking we are living a holy life.
What we must always remember: He is holy and it is His holiness that we partake of it isn’t about doing holy it is being holy He is the holy one (1 Pet. 1:15-16)
Ephesians.4:24-” Put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and TRUE holiness.”
You and I have been created in Christ Jesus the new man is holy and the old man is un-holy living in and out from the new man is true holiness.
Our religious attempts to be holy is a false holiness and it still focuses on sins and the flesh not on the righteousness of Jesus.
A new man will see a holy new creation they are not focused on an old one.
